🚒⚡ Keeping a 140-Year Tradition Alive ⚡🚒

Nashua Fire Rescue Assistant Superintendent Kyle Ball is pictured working from the department’s bucket truck while troubleshooting an open circuit on the City’s Municipal Fire Alarm System, off of Northeastern Blvd this past week.

Nashua’s municipal fire alarm system has been serving our community for more than 140 years and remains a critical piece of our emergency communications infrastructure. The system operates on a 100 milliamp fire alarm circuit, a constant-current electrical circuit designed to monitor the integrity of the fire alarm network. If a wire is damaged, disconnected, or otherwise interrupted, technicians can quickly identify and locate the problem to ensure the system remains operational.

Our Fire Alarm Division is responsible for maintaining an impressive network that includes:

🔹 More than 140 miles of wire throughout the city
🔹 234 street fire alarm boxes
🔹 More than 655 total fire alarm boxes and devices
🔹 21 dedicated circuits that connect our Fire Alarm Building to individual box circuits across Nashua

Maintaining this historic yet still highly reliable system requires specialized knowledge, dedication, and regular maintenance. Whether responding to service calls, repairing storm damage, or performing routine inspections, our Fire Alarm Division works behind the scenes every day to ensure this vital infrastructure is ready when needed.

Thank you to Assistant Superintendent Ball and the members of our Fire Alarm Division for preserving a system that has protected Nashua residents for generations.
