This is an L-shaped kitchen...kind of unusual. The stove is on the inside corner of the L, and there are a few unconventional angles to make the transitions.

The curve of the eat-in bar is echoed in the arch above the window.

The drawer under the sink raises the bottom of that cabinet so items are more easily reached, and of course the drawer makes stuff at the very bottom easily accessible.

Note the thin pantry next to the refrigerator, making use of a limited space. There's another shallow one on the right in the first picture. We've done this in several kitchens--I think it's becoming our "thing." Cans, bottles and boxes are so much easier to identify when there's nothing in front of them.

Because these are inset cabinets, we were able to do those sometimes-pesky doors-attached-to-the-lazy-susans in the corner with no difference in appearance from the rest of the kitchen...but we can also do something similar in full access (frameless) cabinets.

In the process of submitting three kitchens to Fine Homebuilding magazine for their annual Kitchens & Baths issue. It’s fun recounting all the unique or special features.

See, the dishwasher doesn’t have be right next to the sink—and appliances don’t have to be stainless steel.

The range sits on an angled wall, opening up what was a pretty tight kitchen. (It also looks cool!)
