DID YOU KNOW THIS FRUIT IS EDIBLE?

Pindo palms are common in Florida landscapes. Once a year, they produce stalks of fruit with orange berries on the stalks that are about the size of a cherry. Many people don’t realize this fruit is edible. It tastes rather sweet and has a pit in the middle of the fruit like a cherry. The fruit can be made into a jelly or even wine. The pit is 45% oil and some countries use the pits to make margarine.
If the fruit is not trimmed off, it will fall on the ground, ferment and create an unpleasant odor as well as attract insects.
