Strong work Officer Denneno and Needham Firefighters!
On January 27, 2026, Officer Denneno responded to an unknown medical on Tollman Street.
Upon arrival, Officer Denneno determined that the incident was at a different number address on Tollman Street after observing footsteps leading to the garage and an audible beeping sound coming from the residence.
Once inside, Officer Denneno observed a male who was in distress lying on the floor near the stairs. While assessing him, Officer Denneno could hear moaning coming from the second floor.
As Needham Fire arrived, they took over care of the first victim while Officer Denneno went upstairs to locate the other individual. Upstairs, she observed a second male who was lying on his side in obvious distress. Officer Denneno alerted Needham Fire to the second patient who was unresponsive but still moaning.
Fire department personnel retrieved a carbon monoxide detector to determine CO levels in the house. Needham Fire were able to confirm high levels of CO inside the house. At that time, the two patients and all fire and police personnel were removed from the house.
According to Chief Schlittler, “When I reviewed the incident, it was evident that the teamwork you displayed with the people on scene and Needham Fire played a big part in the outcome of this incident. I believe that your quick actions and attention to detail saved these two individuals’ lives. This was supported by the fire staff as well as ER staff who commented about the high levels of CO and that your quick response without question saved this man’s life. I would like to take this time to recognize you for your professionalism, attention to duty and teamwork, which exemplifies the very best of our profession. In recognition of your actions, I am pleased to present you with this letter of commendation. Your actions have brought credit to yourself and this department.”
