Our academy attorneys have been given the go-ahead to set up a free legal assistance table in Middletown, one of the hardest hit areas of the Valley fire in Lake County. They will be providing disaster relief to the victims who have lost important paperwork or are now experiencing legal difficulties caused by the hurried evacuations of their homes and businesses. NCLA attorneys will be joined by other volunteer attorneys from the Lake County office of Legal Services of Northern California and local Bar Associations. A hotline will also be set up under the auspices of the State Bar of California and FEMA to handle what is likely to be a ongoing need for legal assistance in this area that had already suffered through several fires this summer.
