To the Douglass community,

On behalf of Douglass Residential College, it is with deepest sadness that I write to you of the passing of one of our staff members, Beth Bors. Beth was an amazing person – full of energy, funny, fun-loving, and always willing to support her colleagues and her students. Beth touched the lives of the Douglass community in important and meaningful ways. Her death is a devastating loss for us, for her family, and loved ones.

Beth started at Douglass in 1997. For decades, she cared deeply for our students—creating a warm community within Bunting-Cobb, our residence hall for women in STEM. For many years Beth served as the Director of the Douglass Science Institute, a high school summer program for women intending to major in a STEM field. Recently she served as the inaugural director of the DOCTORS living learning community for women of color intending to attend medical school. And, as many of you know, she was our Rutgers Day ambassador.

We will miss Beth deeply. She has left a legacy of improving the lives of students and our wider Douglass community that will live on forever.

Her family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Beth Bors Rago Memorial Scholarship at Douglass Residential College. Please mail your donation to Douglass Residential College, ATTN: Pamela Torres, 125 George St., College Hall, 3rd Floor, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Gifts can also be made online at support.rutgers.edu/BethRagoMemorialScholarship.
