And in 2021, 2023, and 2025, brothers were elected VP who represented as the 3rd African American, youngest, and 1st with a visible disability, with our first Latino General Secretary at the helm! The Spirit is on the Move, drawing the circle wide, thanks be to God.

CBE Responds to the SBC Stance on Women

Since the SBC reiterated its flawed interpretation of Scripture in order to restrict women from teaching and preaching in SBC churches (even while many continue to do so), CBE offers our biblical response: Women have and continue to preach, teach, and lead following Bible women like Rahab (Joshua 2), Jael (Judges 4:21–22), Esther, Deborah (Judges 4–5), Huldah (2 Kings 22:14, 2 Chronicles 34:22), the Samaritan woman—known as the first evangelist— as well as Priscilla (Acts 18:24–26, Romans 16:3–5), Phoebe (Romans 16:1-3), Junia (Romans 16:7), and many more! In fact, one of the most prominent women leaders of the modern era was an SBC missionary, Lottie Moon (1840–1912). Moon remains the most celebrated preacher and leader in SBC history! Women like Lottie have gone “into all the world” (Mark 16:15) and will continue to do so in serving Christ. May we all do likewise.
