Juneteenth marks the moment when freedom finally reached those who had been waiting for it long after it was promised, but never stopped believing it would come.

It showcases our history shaped through endurance, resistance, and unwavering faith—through a struggle that carried the idea of freedom forward until it could no longer be denied.

And it also reminds us that the work doesn’t end there: freedom is only complete when it is shared, and the ideals we celebrate are only real when they are lived by everyone.

For Juneteenth let us remember, reflect, and recommit ourselves to building a more just future where all our neighbors thrive.

As we reflect on all the highlights from the First State Dinner, one moment that stands out is honoring some of Delaware’s most dedicated Democrats and public servants for the work they have done and continue to do not just for our party but for the First State. Each of these honorees has made a remarkable impact often without seeking praise or recognition which made it all the more meaningful to celebrate them.Help us in further congratulating these incredible leaders:

Jalyn I. Powell – Inaugural Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Rising Star Award Recipient: The first-ever recipient of this award recognized for her impactful work as founder of OUTLOUD DE Inc., a youth-centered nonprofit advancing wellness, equity, and systemic change across Delaware.

Jeffrey Quiggle – John Patrick Healy Extraordinary Volunteer Award Recipient: Honored for his transformative service to the Delaware Democrats as RD9 Vice Committee Chair, co-founder of the Delaware Democratic Veterans and Military Families Caucus, and for the many roles he has taken on to expand access and opportunity for our most vulnerable neighbors.

State Senator Dave Sokola – Alexis I. DuPont Bayard Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient: Recognized for his decades-long public service career fighting for stronger schools, safer communities, civil rights, and a brighter future for generations of Delawareans.
