You might be good on the helm, but you must consider other yachts' rights and tranquility in the anchorage to be a good sailor. Here you can find three essential anchorage rules.
1. Priority belongs to which yacht gets anchorage first. So, you should not anchor close to firstcomers for safety and privacy. You should consider where the anchors and chains of the other yachts are located. No one is happy if you drop an anchor over one already lying.
2. Sound carries far at sea. So, you need to pay attention to voices, music, engine noise, generators, outboard motors, a ringing telephone, and others early in the morning or late into the night—all these things of the egregious disruption of anchorage serenity.
3. Also, you need to avoid using powerful lights. Shining a spotlight directly at anchored boats is an immense inconsideration.
