Last night, we partnered with .on.ecosia for a moisture sensing planter workshop! CEID design aides first taught participants how to program a microcontroller that lights an LED when plants need watering. Then, participants learned how to make and decorate their own upcycled planters!

Coming up next week is a discussion panel on Positive Sum Design. Join us at the CEID for an open discussion about the ways we might develop new design strategies that transcend zero-sum assumptions about the immutability of constraints, and the perception of scarcity that zero-sum bias produces! Discussants include Joseph Zinter, Assistant Director at the Yale Center for Engineering Innovation and Design; Ruth Schmidt, Associate Professor at the Institute of Design at Illinois Tech; Arthi Krishnaswami, Adjunct Professor of Practice at the School of Design, Carnegie Mellon; Will Rutter, MA ‘21 in Design from the Carnegie Mellon School of Design; and Ian Gonsher, Assistant Professor of Practice in Engineering and Computer Science, Brown University.
