🧣 Extreme Cold Weather = Extra Care for Our Pets & Community Animals 🐾

As temperatures drop, it’s critical we take extra steps to protect pets and outdoor animals. Cold weather can be just as dangerous as heat—especially for seniors, puppies, kittens, and short-haired breeds.

How to keep pets safe in extreme cold:
• Bring pets indoors whenever possible
• Limit time outside and wipe paws after walks
• Provide warm bedding away from drafts
• Make sure food and water don’t freeze
• Check under car hoods and around tires—cats seek warmth

How to keep outdoor shelters warm for animals living outside:
• Use insulated shelters (styrofoam coolers, plastic totes, or wooden boxes)
• Elevate shelters off the ground
• Fill with straw (not blankets—blankets freeze when wet)
• Make the entrance small and wind-facing away
• Add a flap or heavy plastic over the opening
• Place shelters in dry, wind-protected areas

Even small efforts can save lives. If you see an animal struggling in the cold, reach out to local shelters or rescues. Together, we can be their warmth when winter is at its harshest. 🤍🐶🐱

Please share to spread awareness—our animals are counting on us.

🌟 Fosters & Volunteers Needed — You Can Change a Life! 🌟

The holidays are here, and there’s no better time to open your heart to animals in need. IPAC is urgently looking for fosters and volunteers who can help make a real difference for the pets who rely on us every single day. 💛🐾

✨ What does a foster do?
Fostering is one of the most powerful gifts you can give. When you foster, you:
• Provide a temporary, loving home for a dog or cat
• Help them decompress from the stress of the shelter
• Learn their personality so we can better match them with adopters
• Give them the comfort, safety, and attention they crave

Even a short-term foster—just a few days!—can completely transform an animal’s confidence and well-being.

✨ What do our volunteers help with?
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter. Their duties include:
• Cleaning and helping us keep the shelter running smoothly
• Taking photos/videos to help animals get noticed
• Walking dogs and giving them much-needed enrichment
• Taking pets out for a day trip or even an overnighter for a break from the kennel

Every act of kindness, big or small, makes a HUGE impact.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering or volunteering, now is the perfect time to start. Our animals need you—and they will thank you with wagging tails, soft purrs, and so much love. 💚

💚 Want to make a difference? Give us a call to learn how you can volunteer with IPAC! Contact us at 337-364-6311.

We were honored to be invited to attend this event and sell our 2026 Rescue calendar and merchandise. The Frosted Apron has been a great supporter of Project RISE. We are so proud of Stacy and Lexi and this fantastic book they wrote and illustrated!

Follow her page and keep up with her local events! If you get a chance to attend one of their local book signing, you need to!
