There are moments when a performance reaches you at exactly the right time and stays with you long after the curtain falls.

Years ago, not long after my mother passed away, I found myself searching for anything that could pull me out of the heaviness of grief — even briefly. Around that time, I saw the Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, starring Nick Adams, Will Swenson, and Tony Sheldon.

What they created on that stage was unforgettable.

Their charisma, humor, vulnerability, and connection with the audience brought genuine laughter and joy into my life during one of its most difficult chapters. Every performance felt electric — not just because of the talent, but because of the humanity behind it. At the time, I didn’t know Nick personally. I only knew that his performance, alongside Will and Tony, left a lasting impact on me.

Life has a funny way of coming full circle.
Today, I have the privilege of knowing Nick not only as the incredibly accomplished artist the world sees on stage, but as a thoughtful, genuine, and remarkable person in real life. And through him, I’ve also had the privilege of meeting his partner, Kyle Brown, who is equally warm, grounded, and engaging in conversation.

Having them both in my practice — sitting, talking, laughing, and connecting as people — is something I genuinely value and appreciate.

It’s easy to forget how profoundly artists can affect our lives without ever realizing it. Sometimes they help carry people through moments they may never even know existed.
