What We Learned

Eye Imagine’s Producer Lawrence Scott recently wrapped the production of the indie movie mob comedy “Families Feuds” in Rhode Island. The film producers called on Eye Imagine to pull together crews and run the Director’s department. Scott’s experience as a UPM and AD helped the film stay on schedule, shooting the feature in 18 days.

“Every production we do at Eye Imagine is looked at as a way to learn new techniques and try out new strategies. For “Families Feud” it was the chance to shoot with two SONY F7 cameras, instead of using one more expensive brand like an ARRI. With the extra camera and better lens choices we saved a lot of time.”

Scott estimates the production was able to increase its shooting coverage by at least 30%, thus saving at minimum two shooting days. “We were able to reset the 2nd cameras quickly, allowing us to have creative choices lower budget films don’t normally have.

After screening the dailies, the F7 also proved to capture the high cinema quality we wanted.” So, Eye Imagine recommends looking into alternatives to the big shot cameras that impress the professionals, but don’t amount to a hill of beans to the eyeballs that count the most, you the viewer!
