Hearing Michelle Obama and Serena Williams talk honestly about maternal health is powerful. It also makes something very clear: this was never about the choices moms make or how “strong” she is. It’s about a country that keeps turning maternal health into a debate instead of a basic necessity.
The maternal health crisis is not inevitable. It’s what happens when we repeatedly choose to underfund, overlook, and politicize moms’ lives instead of protecting them.
