To blur or not to blur? People have FEELINGS about blurry/out of focus images, and I understand why. Especially with how trendy they’ve been. But hear me out—

As a lifelong photographer I’ve always connected with them [whether I took the photo or not] and I could never articulate why. UNTIL, I was listening to a years old podcast went on and Justyna gave me the words I didn’t have previously.

When we reflect back on our memories & experiences, are they ever crystal clear? No, they’re fuzzy, but still there. You’re able to put yourself back in that moment, but with the edges softened quite a bit.

Personally, I think they capture the essence of the moment. These photos aren’t the main feature of a gallery, they’re meant to be a supporting role vs the lead actor. I also rarely ever *try* to get them, they’re just bound to happen in the fast paced nature of a wedding day.

I’m curious to know your thoughts!! Blurry/out of focus images yes or no??

^^ at nearly every wedding, I seem to inevitably catch the groom fiddling with the ring newly placed on their finger. it feels like an in between, sweet moment that wouldn’t always be noticed. Or even remembered. But now it is. 🫶

Also realizing I haven’t shared any photos from Liv & Jake’s intimate wedding day back in October. 🙈 Should I share more of their portraits or moments from dinner at a gorg French restaurant??
