WHY I LEFT CHURCH
I've heard it too many times: "I left church because someone hurt me." A leader was harsh. A member gossiped. Someone judged instead of loved. And the pain was real — I don't dismiss it.

But beloved, hear this: one man's failure is not Christ's failure. The church is not a building of perfect people; it's a hospital for broken ones, still being healed (Mark 2:17).

When Judas betrayed Jesus, the other eleven didn't stop being disciples. When Peter denied Him three times, Christ didn't abandon the mission — He restored Peter and used him mightily (John 21:15-17).

Someone's sin against you is not your license to sin against your calling.

Paul warned us plainly: "Now the works of the flesh are evident... hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions" (Galatians 5:19-20) — even among believers. The church has always had wheat and tares growing together (Matthew 13:24-30). Jesus told us this would happen. He never promised perfect people. He promised Himself.

So now the question is "What do we do when we're wronged in the house of God?"

We look to Christ, not to man. "Be angry and do not sin... let all bitterness and wrath and anger... be put away from you" (Ephesians 4:26,31). "Bless those who persecute you" (Romans 12:14). Peter, who knew suffering intimately, wrote: "When He was reviled, He did not revile in return... but continued entrusting himself to Him who judges justly" (1 Peter 2:23).

That's the standard. Not "how did they treat me" but "how did Christ respond when He was mistreated?"

You were never called to become like the person who hurt you. You were called to be conformed to the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). Don't let one flawed vessel steal your inheritance in the Body of Christ.

Forgive. Heal. Return, if the Lord leads you. But don't let a man's mistake become your excuse to abandon your faith.
