NYU remembers and honors Alan Greenspan (STERN ’48, GSAS ’50, STERN ’77, HON ’05), who passed away this week at the age of 100. Greenspan served for nearly two decades as chairman of the Federal Reserve, leading the central bank under four different presidents. According to The New York Times, he was "the pre-eminent economic policymaker of his time and arguably the most recognizable economist of any era." He received an Honorary Doctorate of Commercial Science from NYU in 2005 and the NYU Alumni Association's Eugene J. Keogh Award for Distinguished Public Service in 2012. The NYU community celebrates his life and legacy. Read more: https://nyti.ms/4f6SW0j

Last week, NYU alumni reunited for a night at The Brooklyn Museum, one of New York City’s most iconic cultural institutions. Attendees enjoyed remarks from NYU and Brooklyn Museum leaders, exhibitions of NYU student work, and exclusive access to the museum, including Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses, which explores the intersection of fashion, technology, science, and art. Thank you to all those who came! “Under-resourced organizations carry an outsized share of cyber risk in this country, and they shoulder it largely alone,” said Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist and Craig Newmark Philanthropies. “NYU brings together the law, engineering, and policy chops to actually do something about it, and to train the cyber civil defenders we’ll need for decades to come.” Read the full article: https://bit.ly/3SctJtv
