Ilya Lay Screaming in a Pool of Blood. No One Helpedđź’”
Of course, Ilya did not know how to survive on the streets. He did not know how to dodge traffic. He did not know that cars would not slow down for him.
Then the worst happened. Ilya was hit by a speeding car.
He lay in the road literally SCREAMING in a pool of his own blood.
Screaming from pain. Screaming from terror. Screaming for help. And people passed him by. No one stopped, No one cared.
Ilya was likely purchased as a puppy from a breeder, admired when he was small and beautiful, and then discarded when he became “too much.” Too energetic. Too loud. Too needy. Too husky.
So he was made a stray.
Ilya is in horrific condition. He is bleeding, traumatized, and in unbearable pain. His body has suffered severe injuries from the impact, and every minute he lay there without help made his condition even more dangerous.

Our shelter in Azerbaijan is on the verge of closing. We received an eviction notice since we are 4 months behind on rent. We owe $16,000.
A generous donor has offered to match donations up to $10,000, to keep us open. We desperately need this chance.
Our intake is already limited to only the most desperate cases, & even with this policy, the calls don’t stop. Each day, animals in Azerbaijan are run over, shot, poisoned, beaten, neglected to the point of death, or killed for fun. The sweetest souls are living through nightmares, & most don’t survive.
The lucky ones are rescued by GWARP when someone calls & we’re able to get there in time.
If we shut down, so many will be left to die slowly, painfully, & completely alone on the streets.
Not every animal we rescue survives, but at least with us, they’re not invisible or abandoned in their final moments. They are held, treated, loved, and given dignity.

Elba & her brother were beaten so badly, we didn’t think she’d ever walk again. 6 months later, Elba not only walks, she dances!
Without GWARP, she wouldn’t be here today. She’d have suffered on the street for days until her body finally gave up.
This shelter is not just a building; it’s the place where hundreds of animals are fed each day, wounds are treated, & medication is given. The terrified learn to trust again. Animals who have only known cruelty finally feel a gentle human hand.
We are fighting to keep this safe place from disappearing.
The costs are overwhelming. Rent, food, medicine, surgeries, workers, vet care, transport, & daily emergencies never stop. Each day, we’re trying to keep hundreds of animals fed, treated, protected, & loved.
