French Heritage Language Program

School’s out! Thank you for an incredible school year!

C’est la fin des classes !! Merci à tous pour une année scolaire extraordinaire !

There was a lot to celebrate at our end-of-year party! We handed out awards and certificates of excellence, recognized students who earned the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, listened to alumni testimonials, and selected books at Villa Albertine for some summer reading!

Nous avons eu beaucoup à célébrer à notre fête de fin d’année ! Pour féliciter le travail de nos élèves cette année, nous avons remis des prix et certificats d’excellence, reconnu des élèves qui ont obtenu le New York State Seal of Biliteracy, écouté des témoignages de nos anciens élèves et finalement, nous avons choisi quelques livres à la Villa Albertine pour des lectures d’été !

Thanks to our new partnership with the Princeton University Program for Community-Engaged Scholarship and Princeton's French Department, FHLP students have had the incredible opportunity to connect on a regular and virtual basis with French-speaking Princeton students. Last week, we were thrilled to celebrate this new collaboration during a visit with our Princeton mentors!

Fabrice Jaumont, Education Attaché for the Embassy of France, helped us kick things off with a talk on the many benefits of bilingual education and how he continues to champion dual-language education in the US and beyond. After a lively Q&A on all things bilingual, we changed venues to visit Manhattan International High School where FHLP students gave a tour of their classrooms. The mentors and mentees capped off the day with a conversation on the education system in both the US and in our students’ countries of origin.

We’d like to thank the Princeton students, Sandie Blaise, Christine Sagnier, ProCES, Fabrice Jaumont, Manhattan International High School and of course our own students!

We are grateful for this partnership with Princeton and look forward to continuing it next year!

Grâce à notre nouveau partenariat avec le ProCES et le département de Français de Princeton, les élèves du FHLP ont eu la belle occasion d’échanger régulièrement en distanciel avec des étudiants francophones de Princeton. La semaine dernière, nous avons eu le plaisir d'accueillir nos mentors de Princeton pour mettre en valeur cette collaboration !

Pour donner le coup d’envoi de la journée, Fabrice Jaumont, attaché à l’éducation de l’ambassade de France, est venu parler des avantages de l’éducation bilingue. Il a également expliqué comment il promeut l’éducation bilingue aux USA et ailleurs. Après cette discussion sur tout ce qui touche au bilinguisme, nous sommes allés au Manhattan International High School où les élèves du FHLP ont fait visiter leur école à leurs mentors. Finalement, les élèves du FHLP et les mentors ont terminé la journée avec une conversation sur le système scolaire aux États-Unis et aux pays d’origines de nos élèves.

Nous tenons à remercier les étudiants de Princeton, Sandie Blaise, Christine Sagnier, ProCES, Fabrice Jaumont, Manhattan International High School et bien sûr, nos propres élèves !

Nous sommes ravis de ce partenariat avec Princeton et nous avons hâte de le relancer l’année prochaine.
