Our next committee for CMUNCE XXI is SOCHUM: Social, Humanitarian and Culture Issues.

The United Nations General Assembly Third Committee focuses its attention on the human rights of social, humanitarian and cultural issues around the world. This committee will have to work together to find effective ways to help those who feel at a disadvantage. Specifically, during CMUNCE, the committee will explore the rights of women and children, and racial and economic disparities. Throughout the conference, there will be two topics that come together. Topic A will discuss the safety of families living in war zones. The delegates will look at wars from Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East and work together to protect the safety of the innocent people caught in these war zones. Topic B will regard the same countries but will focus on child labor laws within the cultural societies. Delegates, it is up to you to generate good discussion and collaborate to find effective solutions to these pressing global issues.

Our next committee for CMUNCE XXI is the Krisis of the Kardashians!

Kim Kardashian, one of the most reality stars/influencers in the US, has decided to run for governor in California. Though she’s well-known, the reputation of her and her family has mostly come from reality TV, where the Kardashians are known to be more preoccupied with material wealth and petty conflicts rather than politics. Kim has asked her family, her company executives, her show’s network, and a political team to assemble to help her craft her political campaign. The job of the committee is to present her as a serious candidate for political office despite her previous reputation and scandals that may arise. The committee must work to deliberate all the specifics of Kim’s campaign, including the party Kim runs in, her policies, her media strategies, and the overall image of her family. Delegates thus must contribute to her political campaign while keeping in mind their private interests. Overall, this committee hopes to examine the role of pop culture on politics as the two become increasingly intertwined in contemporary society. To what extent does social media influence public opinion? Are celebrities suitable to act as politicians? And more broadly, what constitutes a successful political campaign today?

Our next committee for CMUNCE XXI is The Angolan Civil War 1975 JCC.

The year is 1975 and the Cold War is raging as hot as ever. All over the world, proxy wars are being fought on behalf of international Communism and Democracy. Angola, a diverse and resource-rich Southwest African country, has recently been abruptly freed from Portuguese colonial dominion; however, a power vacuum has been left open in the process and there are two main opposing factions: the MPLA and UNITA. As one of the most consequential ideological struggles in the Cold War, a diverse range of international actors also have interests in the conflict. It is your responsibility to represent the task forces of diplomats, military officials, and intelligence officers tasked with supporting the favored factions of the conflict’s two biggest international backers: Communist Cuba, which supported the MPLA, and South Africa, which supported UNITA. You will have to be creative and use all the powers at your disposal to ensure your faction is victorious and your country's political and ideological goals prosper.
