Graciela Iturbide. Eyes to Fly With at C/O Berlin presents the first major retrospective in the city dedicated to Graciela Iturbide, offering a focused reading of a practice that has profoundly shaped the visual identity of Mexico over more than five decades. Developed in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition brings together key photographic series alongside lesser-known works, tracing a language that moves fluidly between documentary observation and symbolic, often poetic reflection. From the cultural landscapes of Oaxaca and the Sonoran Desert to diasporic and urban contexts, Iturbide’s images return to themes of ritual, identity, and community, where everyday life is charged with a quiet sense of myth and transformation. Over time, her work evolves from socially grounded reportage into a more introspective exploration of memory, spirituality, and cultural continuity, revealing photography as a space where reality and metaphor remain in constant, delicate tension.”
