Here’s a little snippet from the brand book I created for Russell Brand. It’s always a blast showcasing how a core identity can come to life in an editorial setting. Check out Russell’s life-altering show, currently touring the world.

This is the mark I created for . I’m very stoked on how it turned out visually, but even more proud of how it illustrates what Russell is all about.

Overall my goal was to make the letter “R” represent much more than “Russell”. So I set out to illustrate Russell’s key message of “recovering the person you were born to be” with a simple monogram-esque symbol. This led me to the concept of "eccentric balance"—two eccentric circles (not centered), yet they reside in balance and harmony as a whole. Breaking down the narrative a bit further, asking—“how does one recover the person they were born to be?”—I began thinking about a visual "gateway into the soul". A combination of polarities providing a new opening, balancing thought and emotion (the eccentric circles), revealing a doorway to higher wisdom (perpendicular lines meeting in the inner circle). There are plenty other loose relationships at play here as well but I’ll leave those up for interpretation.

Over the past few months, things sure have gotten crazy... but as crazy as it gets, it’s always a blessing to be busy.

During that time, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Russell Brand to create a new brand identity for him, as well as his tour—Recovery Live.

Everyone involved has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and I’m stoked to finally start sharing some of the work.
