The dogs of Severance!
On this long, long job, our shop dogs kept everyone sane. Ella, Parker and Bruno hung out with us in the tailor/dye shop where folks would stop by for some emotional support. We couldn’t have done it without them!

The Goats of Severance!
Everyone wants to know what the goats mean to the plot of Severance. Between season 1 - and 2, I was asked “Will there be more goats?” the most frequently!
They went through many iterations as the script developed. At first Gemma was to have a “comfort goat” in her suite which would entail an embroidered coat. My colleague Larry built several versions to try both on the toy and life versions. Production wanted very young, small goats but we were restricted by their breeding season - there were a lot of balls in the air!
We had different ages of goats come to the set to see the sizes - one of the photos is of our DP and director of the Gemma 207 episode, Jessica Lee Gagné, trying out a 4 month old goat out on her lap.
And then the strike came. All those goats grew up and by the time we returned 5 months later, the decision was made to have one goat - Emile - with no coat! Our props department had a beautiful, animatronic goat made - video in comments - to help “Emile” work the long days!
All in all, the goats brought levity to our production with their mischievous ways, as a farm girl, who grew up with goats, they made me very happy!
