תוכנית המנהיגות של צוקרמן במדעי ה-STEM הציגה את מחזור החוקרים החדש לשנים 2025-2026, וביניהם ד"ר ענבל וורצל .

תוכנית המנהיגות של צוקרמן במדעי ה-STEM מקבלת חוקרים יוצאי דופן מתחומי המדעים, הטכנולוגיה, ההנדסה והמתמטיקה מארצות הברית, קנדה וישראל, במטרה להעצים מנהיגים מדעיים עתידיים ולקדם צמיחה ושיתופי פעולה מדעיים בין ישראל לארצות הברית.

בין החוקרים החדשים במחזור ד"ר ענבל וורצל, שהגיעה ממרכז הסרטן מאייר של וייל קורנל מדיסין בניו יורק, אל הפקולטה למדעי הרפואה והבריאות ע"ש גריי, כחברת סגל חדשה במחלקה לגנטיקה מולקולרית של האדם וביוכימיה.

ד"ר וורצל סיימה את עבודת הדוקטורט שלה בביולוגיה במכון ויצמן למדע, ולאחר מכן ביצעה פוסט-דוקטורט ב-Weill Cornell Medicine בהנחיית פרופ' דיוויד ליידן. במסגרת מחקרה עסקה בתפקיד ה-DNA הנמצא על גבי בועיות חוץ-תאיות (Extracellular Vesicles - EVs) בסרטן.

מחקרה מתמקד בהבנת מנגנוני התקשורת בין גידולים לבין מערכת החיסון באמצעות בועיות אלה, במטרה לאתר סמנים ביולוגיים חדשים ומטרות טיפוליות לסרטן גרורתי. במהלך הפוסט-דוקטורט זכתה ד"ר וורצל במענקי מחקר מקרן Worldwide Cancer Research ומתוכנית WCM RAP.

הצטרפותם של חוקרים מובילים כמו ד"ר וורצל מחזקת את המטרה להאיץ מחקר -STEM במוסדות המובילים בישראל ולמשוך את המוחות המבריקים ביותר להמשיך במחקרם בישראל, תוך קידום שיתוף פעולה עם קבוצות מחקר ברחבי העולם

Standing Strong with Israeli Academia. Standing with Israel

The Zuckerman Israel Institute stands shoulder to shoulder with the Weizmann Institute of Science, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Tel Aviv University in the wake of the senseless Iranian missile attacks on their campuses several weeks ago.

While we are extremely grateful that no one was killed, we are deeply pained by the wanton destruction of research labs and feel for each researcher whose life’s work was completely destroyed. Proudly, just two days after the strike in Rehovot, the prestigious European Research Council awarded twelve Advanced Grants to Israeli universities - six of which went to Weizmann Institute researchers. Weizmann secured four of the 81 grants awarded by the ERC In the life sciences category.

Together, we will work to advance academic research in Israel that will strengthen us and contribute to the betterment of the world at large.Weizmann Institute of Science
