Maria’s inclination towards music began early. At the age of 5, she started playing violin and by 15, she had already joined the music program of one of the most prestigious universities of Bogota, Colombia. She moved to Boston and graduated from Berklee College Of Music with a dual degree in Performance and Music Production & Engineering. After graduation, she re-located to New York City and started working at Sony Music Studios. As an Assistant Engineer in the mastering department, she had the opportunity to assist, follow and hone her skills by working along some of the best engineers in the business.

Now a Mastering Engineer at Battery Studios, Maria continues to work along side Senior Mastering Engineers Mark Wilder and Vic Anesini. She is equally versed in the analog and digital domains and brings a unique musical sensibility to her work, coupled with a keen ear for detail. Some of her current and past credits include:

Mark Wilder - http://www.batterystudios.com/engineers/mark-wilder.shtml

A career spanning more than thirty years, Mark started his journey at Vanguard Records as a staff engineer. Although some of the sessions during this period were done in early, cutting edge digital platforms, much of his work at Vanguard was in the analog domain, whether it was recording, mixing or editing. Working with a wide assortment of artists, engineers and producers, afforded Mark a deep foundation in recording as well as mixing.

At the dawn of the Compact Disc era, Mark moved to Polygram Records, a co-developer of this new technology. The growth of the music industry, due to this innovation, required Mark to develop a very different skill set than what he had acquired at Vanguard. Since there were no recording studios at Polygram, Mark began to hone his skills in digital editing and mastering, tape restoration and transfers.

With a tip from a friend, Mark applied for his dream job at Columbia Recording Studios. Since accepting the position, Mark has spent the last 24 years as a Senior Engineer at Sony Music. At times a “jack of all trades”, splitting his time between the studio and mastering, Mark turned his attention strictly toward mastering in the mid 90’s. This focus helped garner him 7 nominations and 3 Grammy’s as well as a Spanish Oscar for his work on “Calle 54”. Not only can his work be found on Compact Discs, but Mark has also mastered music for DVD, Broadcast and Cinema.

Some of his most recent projects include:

Bob Dylan
Herbie Hancock
Manhattan Transfer
Miles Davis
Aretha Franklin
Phish
Pat Metheny
Sting
