An Upper West Side treasure offering gymnastics, dance, karate, parkour, and early childhood.
This month, gymnasts in Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate, All Stars & Advanced All Stars, Pre-Team and Gems have been focusing on front and back walkovers. Coaches use various techniques, mats and spotting, until gymnasts are able to complete the skills unassisted. As we’re nearing the end of the semester, gymnasts are determined to achieve these skills before they go on summer break!

What are we learning in the gym portion of On My Own?
Practicing balance by tapping the cones with their hands and feet while walking along the balance beam
Walking up the cheese mat while hanging on the bar - this is the foundational step for a pullover!
Practicing handstands on cheese mats and against the wall, promoting strength and focus
Learning cartwheels with proper hand and foot placement
Throwing bean bags into buckets - practicing color matching and gross motor skills
Kicking soccer balls into nets
These exercises in our gymnastics curriculum are fun for the kids, promote confidence, and develop motor planning and coordination.

Spring into Ballet! 🩰🌼🌱
After the warm up each week, a portion of the class is spent practicing ballet moves, including the jumps and spins that you see in the video. Dancers learn new moves and also practice and refine foundational steps.
Then, dancers practice their choreography for the upcoming Spring Dance Recital at the end of the month! This year’s theme is ‘Enchanted’ and we are so excited to see the final pieces!
