Wixárika beadwork (Huichol art) is a deeply spiritual practice, where every color, symbol, and detail carries meaning. Each piece is created bead by bead, telling stories that connect nature, tradition, and identity.

Through her work, Leonarda shares this tradition with travelers, offering not just a demonstration, but a space to learn, reflect, and connect.

Algunas tradiciones no están hechas solo para ser observadas a distancia, sino para ser comprendidas.

El arte wixárika (arte huichol) es una práctica profundamente espiritual, donde cada color, símbolo y detalle tiene un significado. Cada pieza se crea cuenta por cuenta, contando historias que conectan la naturaleza, la tradición y la identidad.

A través de su trabajo, Leonarda comparte esta tradición con los viajeros, ofreciendo no solo una demostración, sino un espacio para aprender, reflexionar y conectar.

📚 Over the past few days, we had the joy of hosting students from Tulane University in New Orleans. This year felt especially meaningful, with a diverse group of students representing Colombia 🇨🇴, India 🇮🇳, Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬, United States 🇺🇸, Russia 🇷🇺, Spain 🇪🇸, Turkey 🇹🇷 and Vietnam 🇻🇳.

Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to spend time with our local partners and entrepreneurs, who shared their Mexican traditions and knowledge. Like Leo, from the mountains of Jalisco, who introduced them to her Huichol art; or Marta, from the Tzotzil Indigenous group in Chiapas, who works with wool to create clothing and decorative pieces. They also visited Andrés in his workshop, where he carves handmade wooden pieces for the home, among other crafts.

🌮 And of course, no visit to Mexico is complete without its traditional cuisine. The students enjoyed delicious meals prepared by Omar and Nallely, and visited Rancho Las Parotas, where Segis and Yadira taught them how to make an authentic salsa.

Today, we say goodbye to this group with full hearts. Grateful for the memories created and reminded of why we love being a bridge for meaningful human connections that enrich everyone involved.

📚 Durante los últimos días, tuvimos la alegría de recibir a estudiantes de Tulane University, de Nueva Orleans. Este año fue especialmente significativo, con un grupo diverso de estudiantes provenientes de Colombia 🇨🇴, India 🇮🇳, Kirguistán 🇰🇬, Estados Unidos 🇺🇸, Rusia 🇷🇺, España 🇪🇸, Turquía 🇹🇷 y Vietnam 🇻🇳.

Estudiantes, profesores y equipo académico tuvieron la oportunidad de convivir con nuestros aliados locales y emprendedores, quienes compartieron con ellos tradiciones mexicanas y conocimientos.

Como Leo, originaria de las montañas de Jalisco, quien les mostró su arte Huichol; o Marta, del grupo indígena Tzotzil de Chiapas, que trabaja la lana para crear prendas y piezas decorativas. También visitaron a Andrés en su taller, donde talla piezas de madera hechas a mano para el hogar, entre otras creaciones.

🌮 Y claro, ninguna visita a México está completa sin su gastronomía tradicional. Los estudiantes disfrutaron de deliciosos platillos preparados por Omar y Nallely, y visitaron el Rancho Las Parotas, donde Segis y Yadira les enseñaron cómo hacer una auténtica salsa.

Hoy nos despedimos de este grupo con el corazón lleno. Agradecidos por los recuerdos creados y por reafirmar por qué amamos ser un puente que conecta personas y genera experiencias que enriquecen a todos.
