***WARNING***
Rant of a miserable New York prick.....
I will never, ever in my life understand how in New York City this unnecessary event still has to happen.
In a city where it takes me 45 minutes to an an hour to go 2 blocks on some days, why must hundreds and hundreds of roads be closed to make life even that much more soul crushing in this city.
Even though for only a day, it still baffles my mind why this event (or any event that closes an abundance of streets and highways) takes place in the middle of New York City. That goes for parades, farmers markets and whatever else I'm forgetting to complain about.
I can't even start to understand the dedication, commitment and discipline it takes to take part in such an event and I know the meaning of running and completing it is something that means more to people than mostly anything means to me, however can't we have these things take place somewhere else. Maybe Long Island? Maybe Westchester? Maybe Upstate? Maybe where I'm headed...hell??
Anyone who operates a business or drives a motor vehicle in NYC knows how torturous, mind numbing and downright cruel traffic is on any given day, can't we think of ways to enjoy these priceless Sundays that we don't want to lay down in the middle of crosstown traffic??
