Spring 2018

We made a salad for you to enjoy very loudly. Soft butterhead lettuce, cukes, watermelon radish, toasted almonds, snap peas, lemon charred cauliflower, nigella seeds and a homemade tahini mustard vinaigrette. Add an egg if ya know what’s good for ya. Serving up The Crunchy Salad™️ this Sunday at from 11-3. Come for the food stay for the hugz.

Born in a small village in Yemen as Zihara, her name meant “the dawn” or “illumination” and oh man did she shine bright. She immigrated to Israel in 1949 as part of operation magic carpet (🔮✈️! ) Her black hair was down to her waist (even in her 80s 💁🏻‍♀️ ) although it was usually tightly tucked under a headscarf unlike in this rare photo. Her favorite places were the kitchen or sitting in the window sill waiting for family or friends to arrive so she could feed them. Other things she loved were my saba (👴🏾), dancing to Zion Golan, making jokes and attending any and every wedding/henna she could score an invite to. The only thing she knew how to say in English was “I love you”, because she was all heart and really what more do you need? ❤️
