Broken English world premiered at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.

Broken English made its North American premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival as part of the Spotlight section, following its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year. The screening took place Sunday night at Eccles Theatre in Park City.

Ahead of the film’s debut, the red carpet brought together co-directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard alongside producer Beth Earl and members of the creative team. The premiere was followed by live performances from Norah Jones and Rufus Wainwright, paying tribute to the film’s subject, the late Marianne Faithfull.

A hybrid documentary portrait, Broken English reflects on Faithfull’s life and legacy through archival material, staged sequences, and musical performances, closing out its Sundance appearance as one of the festival’s most singular music-driven selections.
