17 (!!!) dogs and 17 forever homes!
April was a big one at Every Last One. Some of these dogs were with us for a few months, others were scooped up in a heartbeat, but every single one left their mark on us.
The goodbyes are real, and they never get easier. We love every dog that comes through our rescue like our own. BUT they make room for the next dogs who need us.
Thank you for choosing to adopt and for choosing these very special angels. We’re so happy that you found your best friend here and we’re grateful to have you in our extended family 🧡
Everyone’s reason for why they foster is different. The one thing all fosters have in common? They do it to save lives… AND something more.
The late night cuddles.
The first tail wag.
The moment a scared dog finally feels safe.
The goodbye that means they’re starting the rest of their life.
Fostering isn’t just about saving these dogs who need us most, it changes you, too.

This past month has pushed us harder than ever. The calls don’t stop, the dogs keep coming & here in New York, the crisis feels heavier by the day. We’re exhausted, stretched thin, & still showing up because our fosters continue to step up when it matters! We’ll keep showing up for these NYC dogs no matter how hard it gets. In the last 10 days, we rescued 11 lives.
⭐️ Lena (ID 248697) is 10 months old & was at risk of euthanasia. Our friends have advocated hard for Lena & we couldn’t let a puppy face that fate.
⭐️ Pulaski (ID 235997) was at risk & pulled by a rescue group who transferred her to ELO, along with wonderful foster mom!
⭐️ PennyLou (ID 235997) was at risk due to range of medical needs. She’s has been with us one week & is showing us just how loving & social she is!
⭐️ Gemma (ID 250614) is a 2 year old pure heart pup who sparked the largest name debate our rescue has had!
⭐️ Gaia (ID 250009) is 2 yrs old & ended up in the shelter because of a pet housing policy. This girl was clearly loved. She’s bouncy, joyful & wiggly.
⭐️ Maggie (ID 181774) story broke us. She’s an 8 yr old mama who was overbred & neglected. The cycle of abuse ends here & we know she’s not looking back!
⭐️ Topanga (ID 252179) is a 5 month old dog who was found abandoned with a broken leg. She’s on her way to recovering & living her best life in foster care.
⭐️ Freddy is a community rescue with our friend . He was the runt of his litter & his breeder willingly gave him away. In the last week Freddy is vetted, living the comfy, good life in foster care.
⭐️ Minnie is a diverted placement & the littermate our ELO alum, Handsome Jr. Minnie came to us in rough shape but in just 5 days she’s shown she’s brave, playful & knows life just got better. We are grateful to have stepped in!
⭐️ Woody (ID 251825) is 5 months old & was being given away by a kid because his family didn’t want him. Woody is just a baby & we’re excited for his full life ahead.
⭐️ Lana () is a dog who has so much happiness in her wiggly body, not even being stuck in the shelter could dim her light.

Minnie came from conditions no animal should ever know, and she was on the path to entering the shelter system.
For 10 months, her world was confined to the walls of the apartment she was born in…no walks, no fresh air, no veterinary care, no chance to just be a dog.
Her body reflects everything she’s been through. Painful mange, infection, and untreated wounds that never had the opportunity to heal.
The moment we heard about her, we knew we were going to act fast. Because Minnie isn’t just another rescue case to us, she’s family.
She’s the littermate of Handsome Jr., who was just last week adopted 48 hours before we learned about Minnie. When we realized who she was, there was no question: we would be there for her in a moments notice.
Within just 24 hours, Minnie has already received the medical attention she desperately needed and is beginning to settle into foster care.
Now, her healing truly begins. She’ll be spayed next week, and with time, care, and love, her wounds both seen and unseen will start to mend.
We would be so grateful in your support in helping us cover Minnie’s medical costs. Every donation allows us to say “yes” when a life is on the line. It helps cover critical vet care and gives dogs like Minnie the chance to experience something they never have before: safety, comfort, and a future.

Our Volunteer Spotlight is our our Director of ELO, New Jersey, Olivia Bell ()! Olivia’s passion for dog rescue began about six years ago when she adopted her soul dog. After becoming deeply involved with her local shelter, , she quickly recognized how much more work needed to be done. Feeling called to do more, she joined ELO to help expand the New Jersey chapter and we are so lucky to have her!
