Saturday marked the 24th anniversary of the formal end of the rescue, recovery and relief efforts at Ground Zero. The FDNY joined fellow first responders, families and loved ones of those lost at the 9/11 Memorial Glade to honor the sacrifice of all who responded in the aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
As we near the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we honor all who were part of the extraordinary rescue and recovery efforts, those who died from World Trade Center-related illnesses, and those who continue to suffer.

On Friday, FDNY members welcomed participants of the Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride 250 to FDNY Engine 10/Ladder 10 in Manhattan as they completed their 1,000-mile cycling journey from Jacksonville, Florida.
The ride brought together wounded veterans from across the country and highlighted the healing power of cycling for physical, mental, and emotional recovery. A closing ceremony was held at Ten House to recognize the warriors’ dedication, resilience, and service.
FDNY members, family and friends gathered Thursday for a clap-out ceremony for Fire Marshal Christopher Cuccaro, who was released from Staten Island University Hospital.
Fire Marshal Cuccaro was injured while operating at a 2-alarm fire and explosion on May 22 at 3075 Richmond Terrace on Staten Island. FM Cuccaro’s K-9, Judge, was cleared of any injuries during the explosion and was there for his handler’s release from the hospital.
We thank the dedicated medical staff at Staten Island University Hospital for their outstanding care and support.
