Not only is West of Sunshine a boooodiful sentimental study of a father and son. It stars two of my favourite men — so it was an honour to design the poster!

The producers wanted the poster to incorporate the key characters (a father and son), a vintage Ford Fairlane and the gritty urban backdrop of Melbourne’s inner western suburbs.

Stylistically the poster needed to invoke a sense of nostalgia. This was achieved by combining images, a contrasting palette, grid system and classic typography. The result is a poster that embodies the essence of the film, hinting at the incisive examination of fatherhood.

Not usually into protesting but this is super important.
