The How and the What: Access, Justice, and Disability Aesthetic 03/30/2021

Last week American Theatre magazine released an issue dedicated to Disability and Theatre. Apothetae/Lark Fellow Drewcella (Oya Mae) Davis joined a roundtable of theatremakers to talk about their work, how they make it, and models for inclusive spaces for both artists and audiences.

"I do not think there is a disability aesthetic right now. I definitely think it is something that needs to be created. My hope with it being created is that everybody is being taken care of. That we are taking care of each other, and that the word intersectionality is used a lot through it. I think it is so important to put the poor as well as Black and POC people at the forefront of it. I think those specific experiences have not really been told and need to be told."
