A Pennsylvania man has been arrested for threatening Gov. Josh Shapiro with antisemitic slurs and promising to burn down the governor’s residence.

Last year, the residence was targeted in an antisemitic arson attack on Passover while Gov. Shapiro and his family were inside. That attack — among others— specifically contributed to 91% of American Jews feeling less safe in the U.S., according to our State of Antisemitism in America 2025 report.

Antisemitism is not just hateful rhetoric—it fuels real-world threats and violence, and must be met with serious action.

AJC, along with ADL, Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, Hadassah, and StandWithUs, congratulates the Jewish Affairs Caucus of the National Education Association for its leadership and success at this year’s NEA Representative Assembly.

However, many Jewish educators across the country still report marginalization within their unions, as well as hostile rhetoric, intimidation, and exclusion.

We hope this progress at this year’s Representative Assembly serves as both a model and a reminder that Jewish educators, like every educator, deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and a genuine sense of belonging within their union.
