Hostos Illustration students shined as they presented their posters for Ariel Surun, owner of Mercado .inc — NYC’s only inline skate shop.

“The kids really blew it out of the water,” Ariel shared. A Bronx kid himself, Ariel proved the perfect client for Professor Catherine Lewis’ DD114 Digital Illustration final project with his clear brand vision and deep roots in the inline skating community.

A million thanks to Ariel for sharing his time, enthusiasm and brand with our Hostos Digital Design and Animation majors! What a way to close out 2025!

ASIFA-East presents NYC Animation Weekend, an event where NYC’s most prestigious animation organizations come together to present programs and offer a place for animators and animation fans to meet, be inspired, and enjoy animation.

The ASIFA-EAST is a New York based organization that hosts screenings, workshops, and panel discussions pertaining to animation. The event will take place on Saturday, October 26th 11:00 am to 8:00 pm in the Hostos Black Box Theater (C-151). Attendees must sign up to receive a ticket. The event is free!
