The Ones Who I Served With šŸ¦…šŸŒŽāš“ļø
Here is the story of one of my unique friend ( Formal Corporal of Marines) Hunter King (GRUNT LIFE šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚IYKYK)

my name is Hunter King I’m from Cleveland TN. I was in the Marine Corps four 4 years as an 0311(Infantry Rifleman) from 2016-2020. I knew I wanted to join the military when I was a freshman just didn’t know what branch then a Marine recruiter came in and talked to me. That’s when I knew I wanted to be Marine more than anything. My parents wasn’t to excited about my career choice and tried talking me out of it but I knew I had to do this. Two months after Graduation I shipped out to boot camp.
I got shipped too California to Infantry Training Battalion. Upon completion of my schooling I got stationed at Second Battalion Fifth Marines Echo company (2/5 RAH). After months of training as a M249 gunner I was deployed with the BLT, 31st MEU on L*D 48. We got sent to Japan for a few months got to experience their culture, people and food. We then got on L*D 48 (a ship) and landed in the Philippines where we executed Kamandag 2 training exercise with their Marines. It was a once in a life time experience! After that we went back to the states my Staff Sergeant recommended me to higher ups to go on with SPMAGTF 19.2. I had to learn a new job and got deployed again this time to Kuwait. While there I had the opportunity to work with the Air Force Security for the base. After ten months I got sent back to the states and got out of the Marines.
It was one of the best experience I have had.
I am now back in TN and working as a builder at Mueller where I do soldering. It’s not much but it’s honest work. I plan on using my GI Bill in the future probably for business.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and there will be so many different experiences you’ll come across while in the Marines.

The Ones Who I Served With šŸ¦…šŸŒŽāš“ļø Here is the story of GySgt Edgar O. Ruiz (Ret.) The one who taught me how to be a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO)
ā€œMy name is Edgar O. Ruiz and I grew up in Pomona, CA. I enlisted in the Marines on 17 November 2020 as a senior in high school. My entire life I grew up thinking college was the answer to success, but I was wrong. I was set on applying to two colleges, but when it was time… I realized I didn’t have the $50 dollars to pay for the application fee. That is when reality hit me, If I cant pay for the application fee, how am I going to pay for all the tuition and anything related to college? One day while at lunch in school, a Marine recruiter was walking by wearing his Dress Blues and medals. I was stunned, all I could think of was, how would I look in the uniform. I briefly talked to the recruiter and Two or three days later i he reached out to me
He explained to me how the Marines would help me and provide me with what I was seeking. I graduated High School in Jun of 2001. After I had joined the Delayed Entry Program, friends, families, teachers, would try to talk me out of enlisting. But I had already set my mind and I arrived at MCRD San Diego on 22, August 2001. My plan was to just do four years. Then the tragic events of September 11 happen. The nation became united and very patriotic. Life was just too good to just do four years. I decided to reenlist, but this time I change my job and became a Light Armored Vehicle Crewman (LAV) MOS 0313. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up doing 20 years of service. What kept me reenlisting was the Marines that I served with and the opportunities the Corps gave me. I travelled to 22 different countries, didn’t pay a single dime out of my pocket for my college education and I was challenged every day. Now I am working there as a Principal Security Analyst. The Corps, the experience it provided, the clearance it gave me, made it easier for me to get hired. I went from a High School kid who couldn’t even afford a $50 dollar college application to a 38 year old receiving a pension for the rest of my life while working at Northrop Grumman.

Here is the story of one of my best friend ( Formal Corporal of Marines) Luis Perla

I was born and raised on Long Island, NY. I graduated from East Islip High School, When senior year came along I knew college was not the path I wanted to take. I also didn’t feel mentally or physically ready to take on the task for adulthood at the grand old age of 18. then I went to basic training at Paris island, SC in October 23rd, 2016. After that I went into my schooling for my MOS to become a rifleman (0311). I went straight to my respected duty station and that’s when the fun began because I didn’t realize the people I met along the way were going to become so close to me that I even consider them family. I was stationed at 29 palms, CA. I was with 3rd battalion 7th Marines from 2017-2019. I deployed to Kuwait, Syria and joradan during that time. After 6 months of being in the sandboxes we went back to US and with less than a year I deployed again . I spent the remainder of my time with 2nd battalion 7th Marines. And deployed again back to Kuwait. I back on September 23rd 2020.
After wrapping up one of the best and most memorable chapters in my life I used the post 9/11 GI bill to go Into a trade school. I am currently enrolled at Universal Technical Institute at Orlando Florida . To become a automotive/ diesel technician.
The big take away from this experience was that I got exactly what I was looking for. I improved mentally, physically and spiritually. I learned how to improve my frail body into something to be proud of. I was put through the most intense training I could of imagined but with time it passed and I learned to love those tough moments because I wasn’t alone. And my values and morals changed, and I learned to appreciate the little things this world has to offer. to always enjoy the good times because I knew next to me I always had people who were living those exact moments with me and that’s something you can’t experience anywhere else. If you ask me today would I do it all over again I would say yes. The marine corps made me who I am today.
