Three Graduate Center Students Receive Fulbright Fellowships for Research and Study Abroad 05/27/2026

Congratulations to DMA flutist Yoshi Weinberg on receiving a Fulbright Fellowship to Austria for the 2026-2027 academic year! Yoshi will pursue contemporary music studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz to work with members of the Klangforum Wien ensemble, and to study the compositions of Julius Eastman, a q***r Black composer.

Yoshi credits the Graduate Center’s Fulbright advising team, Rachel Sponzo (Associate Director of Student Research Fellowships), Professor Emily Wilbourne, and Prof. Anne Stone in the competitive application process.

On Friday, May 22nd at 6pm, DMA mezzo-soprano Patrice P. Eaton performs with pianist Elizabeth G. Hill in Elebash Recital Hall. The program features Wolfgang A. Mozart’s “Va l’error mio palesa” from Mitridate; Ludwig van Beethoven’s “In questa tomba oscura”; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s “Se tu m’ami, se sospiri”; Richard Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder; Jorell Williams’ “Civil Rights Songs”; Brandon Waddles’ “Great Day”; Damien Sneed’s “All Night-All Day”; and Evelyn Simpson-Curenton’s “Git on Board.”

On Friday, May 15th at 6pm, DMA pianist Elżbieta Bilicka presents a recital in Elebash Hall. The program features Aaron Copland’s “Three moods”; Robert Schumann’s Kreisleriana, Op.16; and Alexander Scriabin’s Sonata No.3 in F-sharp minor, Op.23.
