Mary Kaddis, a DOROT summer college intern, walked into her first DOROT program—the Knit and Crochet Club—expecting a quiet, sleepy morning. Instead, she found a room full of older adults deep in a passionate conversation about which New Yorkers most needed the items they were making.
That was just the first surprise.
