“Over the Rainbow” - a vibrant rooftop intervention by 100architects, bringing new life to an unused terrace onto a commercial building in Changsha, China.

The project depicting a rainbow is an eye-catching rooftop renovation that combines art, play, and social interaction.

The studio sought to form a trendy outdoor community hub, serving as a meeting point and leisure space that invites people of all ages to explore and interact.

The Meta Biennale 2021, where virtual worlds expand to become mainstream hubs for social interaction, exchange, and entertainment.

With a series of performances, panel talks, and exhibitions, it encompasses the whole package of a traditional art fair: buying, selling, and viewing art, as well as networking and socializing- all fulfilled within the comforts of your home (or in this case, your headset).

The larger-than-life works are projected on the walls along with music and sounds by composer Luca Longobardi. Paintings such as Starry Night and the famous irises shift and transform before your eyes as you wander through the spaces.

The exhibit has already seen successful runs in other cities around the world and its original creator, Italian artist Massimiliano Siccardi, has been working with immersive experiences for 20 years.

o&o studio and REHyphenation sought to empower the community and envision a better future use of public areas, while upcycling some of the locals’ beloved furnishings, to recall memories from the past.

The resulting project presents itself as a vivid compilation resembling an outdoor urban living room complemented by painted ground graphics.
