Coming up tonight! Student Led Workshop Series: Wet Felting and Redefining Waste!
We invite you all to attend a wet felting workshop led by Parsons Graduate student Madeline Brubaker. Cotter Christian’s Graduate class will be providing a week long series of workshops for First Year students to participate in. We hope you all take advantage of this amazing opportunity to learn from one of your peers.
In this workshop, students will work with waste wool from local farms and felt their own wall hangings. Students will work with multiple types of wool, natural dyed and raw, and learn how deep material engagement can be a method of research in their own work.
All skill sets are welcome. All materials will be provided.
Materials to Bring:
* Wear clothing you are comfortable with getting a little wet or dirty
About the host:
Madeline is an artist and strategist rooted between Utah and New York, working at the intersection of ecology, community, and public life. Her current MFA thesis brings waste wool from rural farms into city spaces — weaving people back into the systems that sustain them. Madeline’s work can be found in various community spaces in Brooklyn, including the Gowanus Dredgers, the Tea Stand, and the Prospect Heights Community Garden.
