What happens to Thoroughbreds after their racing career comes to an end? That's what Second Stride, Inc. wanted to answer when they first became an organization in 2005. Designed to champion Thoroughbreds bred, raised and raced in wonderful Kentucky, Second Stride focuses on moving these horses in need into a new career and a loving home, and has even developed a training program that dramatically decreases their transition time. Since becoming an ASPCA Right Horse partner in 2021, they've only continued to expand their support network further, focusing additionally on education within the riding community about the Thoroughbred racehorse and the industry itself. In 2025 alone, they found homes for 139 retired Thoroughbreds and supported even more during their transition, making them a truly incredible partner.
