I grew up in the orbit of Newark and Essex County politics. I’ll never forget Albert Coutinho’s kindness in welcoming me onto the Assembly floor and making me feel truly seen and valued. You’re going to be deeply missed, my friend. I’m sending my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and our Ironbound community. 🖤

Last night, the Essex County School Boards Association unanimously approved the resolution “Protection of Students and School Communities from Civil Immigration Enforcement Activities.” I was proud to stand with colleagues from across the county in supporting this measure and affirming our shared commitment to our students and school communities.

Public schools should remain safe, supportive places where students can focus on learning. I remain committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to receive a thorough and efficient education, regardless of immigration status, race, or background. 📚
