Nancy For Schools

My mother was my 4-H leader. She had a heart to be inclusive in our small community. I had a classmate that she was concerned about and wanted her to have opportunities for growth and training that 4-H would offer. She told me that I was to partner with this classmate and we would give a demonstration on how to make cinnamon rolls. We did that at the local level, then at the county level where we were awarded a blue ribbon that allowed us to present at the Iowa State Fair. I was much older when I realized that my mother was modeling for me that, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Many people in my local farming community were a supportive part of the village that raised me. Serving on the Newberg School Board will give me the opportunity to be part of the village that is raising the children of Newberg. (The pic is of me from this era).
