Wickham Solid Wood Studio

Because I’m a wood nerd… when we milled this black cherry log in 2008 I documented the location of each slab in the log very carefully. After air-drying for years and kiln-drying it came back to the studio to wait for a project - and a chance to be reborn as a spectacular object… Now that project is at hand and we have the “map” of the tree, telling us which end was in the ground, which end in the sky… which side of each board faced the bark and which side the pith of the tree. It’s all very useful information when piecing together a large tabletop. Visual coherence. Reading the log. So exciting that we can do this!
