Assemblymember Jacobson saw this mistake, filed an objection, and the NYS Board of Elections subsequently invalidated an entire petition (12 signatures). The correction was made by the witness herself and confirmed through an affidavit. It was simply a clerical mistake. The witness statement still meets the requirements of the Elections Law. The witness is qualified, personally watched the signatures being collected, and the correction only fixes a minor paperwork error. There is no question about who the witness is or whether she was qualified to witness the signatures. I’m currently 19 signatures away, and the only way to “cure” certain invalidated signatures would be to take this to court. 🥋🏁
On 4/6/26 I filed for the public office of NYS Assembly. This state legislative office can appropriate funds to organizations, draft bills, & serve on committees to improve the quality of life of the folks living in New York. Since 2/24/26, I’ve collected signatures from neighbors, enrolled in the party I’ve belonged to since registering to vote at 18. I amassed the threshold, to gain ballot access (500), & submitted my petitions to the State Board of Elections—where they deemed my petitions valid. Objecting to petitions is legal. It’s to prevent fraud. It’s utilized to knock off candidates challenging incumbents. From my perspective, the way this tool is weaponized, it makes this Democratic process, undemocratic. It takes away choice from folks that ought to have it & are demanding it. The current Assemblymember, Jonathon Jacobson, known to be a serial objector—taking away the people in his party’s choice for over a decade, filed objections against my petitions. I didn’t commit fraud. My small team of canvassers didn’t commit fraud. In the past, objectors have removed signatures from voters who’ve had strokes or are blind & can no longer sign their name the same way. This part of the process keeps people disenfranchised. My team wanted me to inform the general public, & our base, of what is happening in the campaign. We are trusting that the State BOE invalidates Jacobson’s objections to our petition for public office. We deserve a fair & equitable race that is determined in the Primary election, June 23rd, 2026. If they side with Jacobson, our team will then have 3 days to cure any signature worth salvaging. This process is difficult, time & money-consuming. I will have to get in contact with these people, who signed & are registered voters, get them to sign an affidavit, in front of a notary public, & then submit all of the affidavits within 72 hours. Even if that’s possible, filing those affidavits must be flawless. Hence, this part of the Democratic process, is simply unacceptable. We have faith in God, the work we accomplished, & the neutral State BOE. Thank you for putting your trust in me & exercising your right to a choice on the
