I was recently thumbing through some older works and came upon this fun portrait I painted at the Nutley Art Group (NJ). On the back of the painting I had written the sitter’s name (Julie Endleman) and on a lark decided to see if I could find her on Facebook and show her the painting. We connected the other day, and when she saw the picture she was able to confirm yes, it was she. She currently resides in Bergen County (NJ) and still models in the tri-state area. Quite a costume. And with bells on!

The morning of my departure from Vero Beach for the auto train in Sanford, I made a point of stopping at the expansive National Wildlife Preserve on Merritt Island. The last time I visited I was flabbergasted by the variety of species to be seen , and their number. This time, for reasons unknown but maybe due to the season (it was late November), there were only a few birds to be seen doing what they do. The lake had shrunk as well, so to get close to a small flock of feeding spoonbills I had to walk out from the shore quite a distance to get a couple pictures. Right near the exit I saw this Great Blue Heron. He (?) was on the passenger side of the narrow road, walking slowly through the grass adjacent to a canal. I didn’t want to spook him by stopping, so I opened the passenger window, shoved my phone out and grabbed a couple snaps as I drove by. He seemed intent on something or other, I assumed he was “Looking For Love”, 30 x 40 inches, Oil on linen. The painting will be exhibited at the J.M.Stringer Gallery in a show that opens January 15.
