Celebration of Remembrance & Hope
Have you seen it? We have a new addition to our front yard at 375 Broadway in Newport, a lighthouse.
We built this Memorial Lighthouse as a beacon of hope to bring a smile and a bit of comfort to all who see it. The staff of Memorial threw themselves into building and installing the lighthouse to shed light on what has been a very dark year for many.
Traditionally, a lighthouse provides a sense of safety and direction in dangerous situations for those out at sea. The ocean is spoken of during times of loss, the infamous waves of grief which wash over the loved ones left behind.
We chose this guiding light as the theme for our first ever virtual Celebration of Remembrance & Hope. The ceremony is intended to honor and recognize those who have died in our community since mid-March 2020, no matter the manner or cause of their passing.
We hope this event will offer a flicker of hope to illuminate these lives using beautiful poems, music, inspirational readings, and acknowledgment of each loved one.
If you would like your loved one included in this ceremony, please reach out to us in advance. Each family that registers will be able to provide a photo and brief comment or description of their loved one to be used during the Celebration.
Please register by writing to [email protected] by 5 pm on January 6th so that we have time to create a truly fitting memorial tribute of your loved one.
Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you during this journey.
