Unilateral leg strength is key in every sport.

So at Atlas, we prioritize single-leg dominant movements like split squats to build single leg strength.

Hereโ€™s an example of how we may progress or regress split squat variations based on each athleteโ€™s ability ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ”น Bodyweight Split Squat ISO โ€” builds foundational control & teaches athletes positional awareness
๐Ÿ”น Plate Hold Split Squat โ€” reinforces upper body control & core engagement
๐Ÿ”น DB Split Squat โ€” allows us to slowly increase weight & focus on single leg balance
๐Ÿ”น DB Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat โ€” increases range of motion & greater demand on the hip
๐Ÿ”น Barbell / Safety Bar Variations โ€” allows for higher loading to maximize strength once the athlete has demonstrated movement competency
