End rolling that rolls on and rolls off — and why that distinction matters for thread quality.

Thread rolling is a cold-forming process that displaces material rather than cutting it, producing stronger tooth forms, improved surface finish, and greater precision. End rolling applies this through purely linear motion onto a rotating part.

CJWinter's 193 end-rolling attachment departs from conventional designs in one critical way: rather than springing open to clear the thread before retracting, it rolls on to create the thread, then reverses as the unit rolls off.

That difference has measurable implications:

- The roll-on/roll-off sequence creates a double-burnish, producing higher-quality thread profiles and finishes
- Eliminating the spring-open mechanism removes internal components prone to damage on hard materials
- The result is a 15-lb unit versus the 40-lb conventional alternative, reducing spindle wear over time

Coolant delivery at the cutting edge — without external nozzles or system modifications.

Haimer's Cool-Flash cooling system integrates slot geometry directly into shrink-fit toolholder bodies to direct coolant along the tool shank, through the chip flute, and into the cutting zone. The system operates at standard machine tool pressures of approximately 20 bar, requiring no changes to existing coolant infrastructure.

In moldmaking environments — where deep cavities, long-reach tools, and hardened materials are routine — chip accumulation and localized heat buildup can compromise surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Cool-Flash addresses these conditions at the toolholder level.
